If you want to be transported back in time, this is your run-of-the-mill diner. If you're looking for a bougie Austin establishment, this place isn't for you. It's for your standard all-day breakfast and lunch eats.
I ordered the Mushroom Swiss and fries - cooked medium well. Delicious and hearty slammed back with two glasses of unsweetened iced tea. My friend recommended the coconut cream pie, which was a nice fluffy textured cream pie with bits of coconut. My advice - skip eating the pie crust. It's dry and isn't what makes the pie. Overall, I'd come back if I was craving a nice diner meal. -

I've been coming to this Jim's restaurant for close to 40 years. It is one of my favorites breakfast places. The food and service are Consistently outstanding. There are even a couple of servers that have waited on me, almost the entire time I have been coming here.
If you are wanting a great local coffee shop/breakfast place, you do not need to look any further than this wonderful restaurant.
Gary (manager) and his staff do a fantastic job. -

This is a very popular and overrated breakfast restaurant in Austin. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it is opened 24 hours. My family and I visited and it was quiet for the most part. It took a long time for the food to come out given that there weren't that many customers. The waiter seemed like he didn't want to be there either. He argued with us about if we ordered drinks or not, which was weird...Our food eventually came out so I was happy about that. My Omelette was decent, but nothing too special. The biscuit was very underwhelming. I absolutely loved their hash browns! Overall, I wouldn't suggest coming here. Only come here if it's your last choice.

Not worth the wait for Sunday Brunch or any other day. The service was slow. The restaurant is filled with fruit flies swarming your plate and drink. The French Toast was definitely not the thick cut Texas Toast as advertised. The country fried steak was more like compressed hamburger meat with a separate layer of fried bread crumbs on top. Half the order never came but we were charged anyway.

Jim's was just what I was hoping for, a traditional, affordable diner with good food and large portions. We sat at the bar and had a birds eye view of all of the staff and the food prep area. Though it was obvious that the restaurant had been around a long time it was very clean and orderly. Wait staff was efficient, air conditioner cold, coffee hot and omelette delicious. We will go back soon!
